Icelandic and Cheviot Wool
We offer Icelandic and Cheviot Raw Fleece and processed Roving for the Hand Spinner and Fiber Artist. We will have felting batts in Spring 09. We have sent off several prime Icelandic Fleeces to be processed into roving.

What is a Raw Fleece? Raw Fleece is straight off the sheep. It is unwashed. (Picture Above is raw fleece off of Icelandic Ram, Saxon). We Skirt our fleece heavily, meaning we remove soiled areas and remove as much vegitable matter as possible. This Raw Fleece can be spun in the raw and washed later or washed and carded, then spun into yarn. The advantage of the raw fleece is price, the advantage of roving is it is ready to go with no washing or carding.
The picture below shows Icelandic Gray Roving on the left and upper left, Cheviot Roving, Orange, koolaid dyed and bottom white roving. The bottom right is Icelandic oatmeal colored roving.
What is roving? Roving is wool which has been washed and carded and made into a long piece of fiber. Hand Spinners can take the roving and spin it directly into yarn. Roving can also be used in felting projects.
