Why are hand-made soaps & lotions better?
The natural soaps are made with luxury oils and contain the glycerin removed from commercial soaps. Check the lable of commercial soaps, they are filled with detergents and chemicals. Natural soap has only oil & water or goat's milk listed on its label. Lye is combined with the oils and is used up as the combination of oils is turned into soap. The natural soap does not dry your skin out and many of the oils encourage moisture retention.
What is the importance of Luxury Oils & Goat Milk in the making of skin care products?
Each luxury oil & goat milk has its own properties which add to the product:
1. Goat Milk: Milk has been used as a beauty treatment for centuries. Goat milk in soaps has a pH level close to the skin's own pH level. Goat Milk contains 50 plus nutrients, including vitamins A, C, B1, B6, B12 and E, minerals, citric acid, amino acids, fatty acids, enzymes and a variety of other nutrients that revitalize dehydrated skin. Vitamin A prevents thickening of the skin and age spots. Zinc helps reconstruct collagen fibers, encouraging moisture retention and maintaining elasticity.
2. Shea Butter: A wonder from West Africa, the butter is expeller pressed from the seed of the Karite Tree. This luxury butter provides skin-moisturizing properties as well as enhanced cell regeneration. Shea butter protects skin from the weather, sun and prevents aging. It is also well known to assist in healing dermatitis, eczema and sunburn.
3. Emu Oil: The Ultimate luxury oil, Emu oil comes from the large Emu bird. This oil is ultra refined to incorporate into skin products. It has an anti-inflammatory effect to skin. It has been used for centuries in Australia for various skin problems. Emu oil is very expensive and skin products made with this wonderful oil will reflect the higher cost. It is fantastic for dry, chapped skin and well worth the luxury price.
4. Avocado Oil: A luxury oil, which softens and moisturizes skin. It is considered a luxury oil for aging skin and contains many vitamins, beta-carotene, potassium and protein. It is used in soaps & body products to soften and smooth skin.
5. Jojoba Oil: A luxury oil similar to the oil secreted by human skin. It lubricates and protects skin against premature aging. It is said to also have antibacterial properties.
6. Cocoa Butter: From the cocoa seed, this butter is also used to make chocolate. Very rich and moisturizing, it helps rejuvenate skin by attracting moisture to it.
7. Coconut Oil: This oil is a must in all soaps! It gives the wonderful creamy lather our luxury soaps demand. It also hardens the bar for longer bath life.
8. Olive Oil: Another luxury oil, it prevents the loss of natural moisture and is itself an emollient. Olive Oil is high in oleic acid and great for skin cell regneration. It is also an expensive oil.
9. Rice Bran Oil: Extracted from the outer coat of Brown Rice, it is rich in vitamins, minerals, proteins, essential oils and tocotrienol. This luxury oil contains the highest amount of all natural vitamin E in a liquid form. It has antioxidizing and sun protection properties. It is an essential ingredient in all our products and great for mature or sensitive skin.
10. Safflower Oil: High in linoleic acid, it helps moisturize, nourish and restructure the skin.

How is soap made?
The chemistry of soap which has been made for hundreds of years is simple. A strong base and water or milk is used to change an acid (the fats and oils) in a chemical process called sponification. The sponification final product is soap and glycerin. The strong base is usually Lye (sodium hydroxide) and added to a variety of oils. Once the process is complete, all the lye is used up in the process. This is why it is important for soaps to cure or age. They become harder, milder and dryer. Our luxury soaps are cured for 3 to 6 weeks, depending on the ingredients and high quality oils of our formulas.
