Why are we on test? 

Our goal is breeding Nigerian Dwarf Goats to excellence in Milk Production and Conformation.  We offer goats who milk and we know exactly how much, what % milk fat, and protein they produce.  Our goal for the next several years is to produce does who milk 4 pounds (half gallon) of milk or better.  Our milk fat averages 6.5% now and are shooting for 8%.  We have does who are 1/3rd the size of the large dairy goats milking half as much with double the milk fat.  Milk fat & protein makes more cheese with a smaller amount of milk. 

We have been breeding Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats since 2004.  We have built our Oldesouth Nigerian Herd from strong milking and conformation bloodlines.  We breed for milk production and actually milk our goats!  Proper conformation, udder attachment, toplines, and soundess of feet and legs is a priority as well.  We have been selecting toward improving milk production in the Blue Eyed Nigerians.  Milk production improvement with Blue Eyes is a trait needed in our breed.  We select for milk production and conformation first and eye color and coat color only if they meet the first standards.

We show our goats several times a year and we have a nice string of milking does.  Particiaption in DHIR, LA and the Show Ring is PROOF of our commitment to improve this wonderful little Dairy Goat.

Last tested Negative for CAE & Johne's 12/10/12, we test yearly and have been negative for 8 years!
